Our History
Arthur Murray International, Inc. is one of the oldest franchised organizations in the nation. The company was founded by master social dancer and entrepreneur Arthur Murray in 1912 to offer dance lessons by mail. Its influence grew rapidly throughout the proceeding decades, with instructors practicing dance and giving lessons in Hollywood lots, Broadway stages, and cruise ships sailing throughout the world. Arthur Murray instructors are requested constantly to teach and assist in movie productions. Every Arthur Murray studio is independently owned and operated by a former instructor turned executive, and there are 250 studios throughout the world.
